Strange as that may sound coming from a retail cutlery/sharpening store,
we really believe this to be true. Much of the brand named cutlery
available today is of the highest standards and quality in history.
Yet many people, because of late-night infomercials, have accepted a
"never gets dull" mentality when it comes to their cutlery.
If a knife gets dull it must be obsolete and so they "replace" the item with
mass-marketed junk.
We encourage all our customers to not replace their knives, scissors, shears
or tools but to have them professionally sharpened once every year for
heavily used items and once every two years for less used items.
Normal maintenance with a quality steel, stone, or portable sharpening device
is usually sufficient to maintain a good edge for that period of time.
